I've been signed to this website for a while, but I never really said hello.
First off, dieselpunk interests me greatly. Actually, that's quite needless to say. At the very least, dieselpunk is my life. HAH. There, that has some more substance to stand on its own.
I got started with dieselpunk with steampunk. NBD. My first "punk" experience was with the old 90s video game Myst. And then the whole Myst series/franchise. I found Myst very steampunky in many aspects and especially certain Ages (worlds within the universe of the games). Then I was introduced to the Leviathan series by Scott Westerfeld. Jesus Christ the drawings in those books... *dead*
For the last seven years, I've been "obsessed" you could say with this little world of mine that two years ago I started writing about in the form of a novel. *gasp* I don't really know what I'm doing or how I've gotten so far with my writing, but this site certainly has been helpful, so thank you for that. For existing. ;)
This world involves two things: dieselpunk and dragons.
In the future, I'd like to be a film director as well as an author on the side. Most of my stories fit under that whole "punk" umbrella. Like, one is cyberpunk that portrays a good megacorp vs a bad government, another is an atompunk Huxley-esque dystopian story, and another is full-blown dieselpunk complete with flying jet cars and ray guns and narcissistic aviators and clunky mechanical prosthetics. Hopefully, my stories go big and there is a place here for them.
But in the meantime, I hope I continue to fit well in this little part of the Internet.
Welcome aboard, or at least up out of steerage, Ally!
The best thing to do is focus. Get one project done before moving on to the next. Otherwise, you'll find yourself buried under a mountain of half-finished stories.
I'm glad you found us, because I can't wait to hear what you come up with.
I enjoy the myst games as well. Have you played any of UrU or UrU Live?
