Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

I haven't done an intro post yet, so I thought I'd say 'Hi'. My name's Mim, I'm not sure I'm dieselpunk but a lot of the stuff I like certainly is. I started reading this website because I loved the 'Two Fisted Tuesdays' Shadow recordings.

I suppose stuff I like of relevance here is: early jazz and swing music, science fiction, old cameras - although my husband is the one who does most of the photography, old films - especially silents and noir, golden age crime novels, pulp stories, art deco, The Rocketeer...

I have steampunk friends and they've been encouraging me to go to their event (Waltz on the Wye) not in steamy gear but in my 20th century kit. They seem to see me as more diesel than anything else, and it does feel as though diesel has an awful lot of what I like in one gorgeous package...

Welcome aboard!  "Dieselpunk" or not, all are welcome!

Welcome to a Brave New World.

Hi Mim,

There's no shame in attending steampunk events in your dieselpunk finest.  We're all cousins.  If anything, you might give others the courage to dress in dieselpunk gear as well
