Found this interesting piece of history on the web today:

Heh, they showed the Great Western Railway works at Swindon - I was there a couple of weeks back. It's no longer a railway depot, but a lot of the major buildings are still there, and there's a superb 1930s diesel engine and buffet car in the railway museum.
