Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

So my wife & I have caught a couple of episodes of Bomb Girls (see Trailer at: http://www.dieselpunks.org/video/bomb-girls), originally aired in Canada in Jan 2012, now playing Tuesdays at 10pm on Reelz in the US.

Anyone else watch(ing) this?

It follows the lives of "Rosie the Riveter" women at a bomb factory in Canada early in the war (pre Pearl Harbor).

The set and costume design are great, the acting very good, and the history seems solid.  I like the characters and the setting.  My one major problem is that it's really soap opera-ey and seems more concerned with who is sleeping with whom when and where and why.  While it's tangentally covering a lot of monumental topics like race, gender, sexuality, morality, propoganda, and politics of war, these are, IMO, getting a bit lost in the sex-capades.  Or did we just catch the wrong episodes?

Thoughts?

I reviewed this show on The Diesel Powered Podcast, and I agree with most of the above. The only issue I had with it is that it had a very British rythmn to it, and that just felt off.

Original music on the show is really good!
