Hello fellow dieselheads,
Though I've always had ideas and a love for things that we would call dieselpunk, I didn't realize there was an entire community devoted to it, and when I learned about it a few years ago, I was instantly sucked into it.
I love the whole idea, the concepts, the clothing, the machinery, the adventurous themes and whatnot. And while I've seen a lot of dieselpunk art (and yet not enough), I haven't really heard or seen much dieselpunk novels out there. Does anyone have any dieselpunk novels that could recommend as a 'first'?
That being said, I'm right now I'm working towards writing my first full novel (whether or not it is to be published is another matter, but either way I'm making it available online), and it's the first novel I'm writing in my original setting. The story is about a bomber crew sent on a mission to assassinate a high-ranking officer in a top-secret mission, with air-pirates and secret weapons and all that jazz; it helps that the crew are a bunch of misfits, too, ranging from pranksters to borderline criminally insane.
So anyone got any recommendations.

Starting next Monday, I'm going to be putting up a series of worldbuilding posts detailing Autumn and the characters. Not sure if you'll find a lot of value in my ramblings, though. :D

Permalink Reply by Eldritch Engines on March 21, 2012 at 10:37pm Unfortunately my two current projects are both novels. Was thinking about writing a short prequel to the second, about the theft of the Red Witch. Hmm....
Permalink Reply by Mim McDonald on March 22, 2012 at 6:06am Kim Newman 'The Bloody Red Baron' and Paul Malmont 'The Chinatown Death Cloud Peril' are two that spring to mind. Both were written before dieselpunk really came about as a genre, but I think most dps would like them.
Hello all once again,
I decided to bump it up since I posted the first chapter in my story. I originally wanted to publish it in its entirety after I write the whole thing, but I realized it would take a long time and I think it would be better if I did it in serial form.
Here is the first chapter. It's a reboot of my world, and if you check out my other stories, I will be probably be rewritting them. They're 100% diesel era, but not dieselpunk.
Anyways, please read them and tell me what you think. :)
Hey mate. I'm happy to critique any writing you've done.
Is there any way you could get a word processer version to me? It makes it a lot easier to critique and comment. The online formatting of that website is pretty bad.
Sorry for the delay, but here it is. In TXT form.
I also agree that SFFworld.com's format is crap.
