Help Wanted - We're looking for a 20th century weapon historian

Help Wanted

We're looking for a 20th century weapon historian to help with a new weekly segment on Dieselpunks.  The segment will highlight the weapons and arms of the diesel era, including early rifles, Lugers, Tommy Guns, Ray guns, and the weird weapons that never left the drawing boards during WWII.

These weapons can be real or fantastical, as long as they appeared or were inspired by the period stretching from 1900 - 1950.

If you or someone you know can help, please let us know by responding here with a "I can help" message.

Special thanks to Lord K for coming up with this great idea!

I Can Help
Well, I'd like to throw my hat into the ring for the spot. I can tell you anything you might want to know about any class or type of weapons. From small arms to experimental devices, Lewis Guns to Vortex Cannon. From the Goliath, to 1940s-era TV guided missiles and antipodal bombers. I can tell you that magazine and clips are not the same thing, Germans believed a higher rate of fire put more rounds on target in shorter bursts; and that a good British rifleman could rapidly cycle his Enfield and fire with a special trick of the fingers. Best example of my knowledge can be found here- http://redfezwriter.blogspot.com/2009/02/gangsters-guns-shoot-outs-...
So, I think I can help.
Excellent work, Kev!

We're looking for someone who can post to the blog two-to-four times a month (depending on your availability) with information about weaponry. It would be an ongoing assignment akin to Two Fisted Tuesdays or Lord K's Garage, and it sounds like you're a perfect fit.

I'll bump up your privileges on the site so you have free-reign to post to the blog without moderation, and I'll follow up in a PM with details.

Redfezwriter has stepped up to the plate!

Who else can chip in to help?

Dieselpunks currently gets 2,200 unique readers a day, so it's a great opportunity for writers and historians alike to get the word out about the things they love.
I look forward to chipping in, keeping the folks informed and engaged. Point me in the right direction and I shall be at the service to the Dieselpunks community.

Truly, I look forward to getting started. And thanks again.

Kev

I would like to help.
As far an qualifications, other than a keen life-long interest in things that go bang (or boom) ... I have owned a firearms business, trained and worked as a small arms repairman and armorer in the US Army, been an armorer for a military museum's pattern room, and have a personal collection of firearms ranging from Martini-Henry rolling blocks from the Afghan war to FN PS90 carbines.

The caveat: currently I am still with the US Army, stationed directy on the North Korean border (Camp Bonifas, JSA). My time is very often not my own. I am good with research, and would be willing to assist in that manner.
I can help!

As a historian studying European history, specialising in Germany in the early twentieth century, I'm highly likely to be your guy.
Good morning folks

Redfezwriter here, its good to see all the extra hands willing to help out. I am feeling pretty good about the current flow of stories coming out of my cob webbed mind (they're coming quick and easy...knock on wood.) That being said, I can always use an extra set of ears and eyes to help out on occasion. Maybe get some feedback on ideas or help in cracking some especially hard research nuts. Plus, even the Redfez-writing machine will need a Wednesday or two off this summer.

Thanks for adding your brains and talents to the mix. I shall be dropping you good folks some notes soon.
Tome
