Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Hmmm, I did not know where to post this so I chose this spot

I have been developing ideas for two novels which I hope to have published over the next two consecutive years. The first is a lesbian romance/surrealist satire of Hollywood that set in a very odd interpretation of our current era.

The second is a fictional, yet(I plan) a historically accurate account of a young stock broker's life before, during and after the Black Tuesday event. This novel will follow his professional life, and by extension the world as it was, and will also follow his personal life which includes sexual experimentation and a romance which was socially unacceptable of the time period.

If this small amount information strikes anyone's fancy, I will be sure to go more in depth with the latter in the coming months as I begin work on it. As for the former, I will begin writing it tomorrow and may post snippets on my blog from time to time.

I think the second would make for a very good novel. If it helps, the attitude of the time before and right after the crash was pretty grim (think pre-Y2K). The US was growing into a world-class superpower, while the rest of the world was playing Risk with every country that wasn't nailed down yet.

There was a lot of chaos in these times, and everyone wanted their piece of the pie.
I am glad you said that as I had intended for a drastic change in his mental state after the crash. I do not plan on him jumping out a window immediately after the event, but rather explore his further detaching form reality(the world eventually turns into some sort of Futurist dream/nightmare while he loses sense for what exists around him).

As for the attitude beforehand, I am glad you pointed that out. It will help add more depth and contrast between these two adjacent eras.
Hey, how is this coming? You still writing?
