Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

how popular is the con scene within the dieselpunk community?

I'm curious on how popular is the con scene within the dieselpunk community.  My husband and I have gone to about 3 Dragon Cons now and a handful of Gen Cons before that.  He wants to go back to DragonCon next year though the sheer insanity of the con, football game, NASCAR race, etc, that all seem to happen simultaneously now makes me not want to go.

I've done steampunk at DC.  Awful hot for a full victorian get up in Atlanta over Labor Day.

It's known among some participants but there's little representation from what I could tell during the recent convention I went to. Check out my posting about A-Kon in my blog. http://dieselpunk44.blogspot.com/2010/06/news-from-front-kon-21.html
great blog post, Larry. I think I may have a mission now, to diesel up Dragon Con. On the plus side, it will give me something other to focus on rather than my anxiety around large groups of people.

I rarely make any Cons for the simple fact that my family takes precidence on my leave. That said, I'd love to hit the meet & greet at Steamcon if I can spare the time.

You up here in DC, HD?
I'm in Harrisburg PA, so DC, Baltimore, etc are within striking distance. Used to go to Balticon fairly often but haven't been there in years. Do you mean the Steamcon in Seattle? I just missed that first one there by a few months, having taken vacation there in June last year.
Sorry, meant the World's Fair one where the big Meet & Greet was planned, or was that Dragon Con? I dunno. I'll miss Dragoncon due to prior plans.

For the moment I work in downtown DC, so if you're ever planning on a DC day trip look me up. Sam goes for any of you, actually. I can give the Downtown DC Deco nickel tour.
Thank you. I post a new entry every other week so I'll be posting a new one either Sunday or Monday.
