Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

I did use the search engine but could find no mention of this anywhere. Although not Dieselpunk in the true sense, I think it may have an appeal to some of us nonetheless.

Essentially a Detective story set in the late 1940’s and heavily influenced by film noir. Aaron Staton from Mad Men lends his voice and likeness to the lead character Cole Phelps.

This one has been fraught with setbacks, but a release date for spring 2011 has been announced. It looks like Rockstar have done it again, and the beautiful CGI rendering of 40's L.A is something to behold. More clips available at the games official site, here's a little teaser.

Always love to hear more about it though.  Can't wait!

Oops!

I obviously need to refine my search engine technique. Oh well, at least I got my MAD CODEZ SKILLZZZ down by composing the post! (and it does look like a rather good game doesn't it)

I'm loving the trailers so far.  However, I don't have an HDTV, so if there are any small fonts or mini-maps like there were in GTA 4, I won't be able to play it.  :(

New update with behind the scenes interviews about the tech being used to make the game.

Wow.

Well it's like they are saying, it's only because they have to compress the data so much that it still looks like that. I really didn't think I would ever see GGI that was so realistic you really couldn't tell the difference, and then I saw this

You can still tell, but bear in mind this is true animation done using no actual referencing. Combine that with some of the static GGI portraits I've seen, one in particular where you really can't tell at all. And my skepticism has faded somewhat.
