#2 - Larry, would he really be dieselpunk? Sounds like he's doing his best to be completely retro. Don't mean to split hairs, but being dieselpunk means bringing the style into the present, not living in the past as accurately as possible.
I agree he's not Dieselpunk, but a Reinactor (and also wonder how he pulls in that kind of scratch as a musician; my bet is Rumrunning!). That said, his full-emersion lifestyle is certainly of interest to us and by comparison our lifestyle might interest him. I call that Synergy! :D
