As requested starting a new thread for the band. I'll update as new info comes available. Feel free to pose questions to the band and we'll do our best to respond.

For another must listen I'll plug my band Mather Louth and Radio Noir.http://www.reverbnation.com:80/matherlouthandradionoir Imagine drifting through the seedy underbelly of New York City haunted by distant memories of the desert, the mythic night of Gotham undercut by desolate ghost town loneliness. Imagine listening to bourbon-soaked blues, pierced by the thousand yard stare of a moonlit coyote. Image the pulse of the dark nocturnal city and the tassel swinging rhythmic release that disrupts the despair of long, dark stretches of a barren wasteland. Imagine hearing strains of seedy speakeasy jazz blowing on the arid wind. You have just imagined the burlesque blues and swamp jazz of Mather Louth and Radio Noir.

Great to have you here! I have some questions:

When and where are you guys planning to give another concert?

When is a CD coming out?

What was the inspiration for the type of music you decided to play?
Hayen, thank for the welcome and the questions. It's great to be here.

>When and where are you guys planning to give another concert?

We are currently playing 1-2 times a month in the Los Angeles area. Our next 2 shows are scheduled for the Unknown Theater in Hollywood on Fri Feb 26, 2010 and Sat March 6, 2010. Following that we will be performing an afternoon show as part of the Pink Parlour Festival at the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia on Sun March 14, 2010. I'll keep this thread updated as new shows are confirmed.

Touring does require a considerable amount of planning with regards to finances, so it’s in our best interest to be very selective about booking shows outside of our usual radius. However, I know we would love to broaden our reach and are actively looking at ways to arrange shows within a days drive of LA, and certainly when the right opportunity presents itself, we would be eager to travel farther.

>When is a CD coming out?

We currently have a 4 song EP "The Swamp Jazz Sessions" that is available for download from iTunes and Amazon or in CD format directly from the band.

We are currently trying to line up finances for a full length release. We have more than enough material with more continually being written and would love to see a CD by the end of the year. But we'll se how things turn out.

>What was the inspiration for the type of music you decided to play?

It wasn't so much an inspired conscious decision. The sound mostly grew organically out of the band lineup and individual personalities. Mather, being the vocalist, does most of the song writing, which is heavily influenced by her love of music bolstered by a voice that instantly seems able to turn your insides out. Most of that music is dominated by the early songcraft of jazz and blues and carried by artists with old darkened souls, as Nick Cave, Tom Waits and Patsy Cline. Mather also covers guitar duties, and not being a virtuoso she tends to use the guitar to create landscape to support the vocals rather than as a means to drive the melody. Also, as a lefty playing a right handed guitar upside down, the chord voicings are somewhat forced to be more sparse and lower, reinforcing the dark aesthetic of the vocals.

All of this tends coalesces into a certain framework for the songs upon which the rest of the instrumentation builds. We are essentially an acoustic band, stand up bass, drums and sax, playing in a rock band with an electric guitar. We have to arrange the instrument parts so that they compliment each other and maximize the sonic and harmonic possibilities. In this process, the initial song gets altered as the skeleton is fleshed the connective tissue. That’s what gives us our sound.
