"Mechanical Package" Magazine

In looking for fun DIY stuff to do this summer, I never expected to find Mechanical Package Magazine (or the actual, presumably functional "midget seaplane" plans in the third issue).

 

Fortunately for me, my nine year old does not yet know how to weld. Also fortunate for the neighbors' pond...

 

If anyone does build this one (or ventures the telegraph--that looks like it might be more our speed), I hereby demand pics.
