Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Of late I've been finding the Post-WWII (Early Atomic Era) period more than a little fascinating, so this news item really doesn't surprise me very much. (There was a HECK OF A LOT of stuff going on then that the ~ average folks ~ never heard about. Nor even imagined! Much of it, Stranger Than Fiction!) But I was wondering if anybody else here tracked this story??? =

There was a very DP organization once called the Conservation Corps.  I love seeing old Conservation Corps projects that we are still using like schools, bridges, remote rental cabins, etc....

http://www.epa.gov/superfund/sites/ , recycle-mining of old land fills, agro-methane production services, and lots of other replacement careers.  ;-)

Living in a state capital I have learned that there are much lower life forms than even politicians like their whiny aids, lawyers, and especially lobbyist who make politicians look like Boy Scouts.

I cannot argue that the CIA was not the first puppeteers even in the US.  It would be nice to someday outgrow the need for this sort of practice.  Someday.

The CCs did amazing work! And they did it all the Hard Way. Extreme Manual Labor. Like building safe and solid leisurely public hiking trails up the sides of mountain granite cliffs that were never more than goat tracks. Anyone who enjoys any time spent in our National Parks and Landmarks owes a HUGE debt to our CCs!

Yep, ALL of your suggestions would sure make for some much deserved wrinkled suits! LOL
