Physicists May Have Evidence Universe Is A Computer Simulation

You may have seen this already, and it's very OT - however, being an imaginative group of people, I thought it might be interesting to you...

It does bring up all sorts of weird philosophical questions.  For example, if it were *true* it would mean that 'intelligent design' would also be true - but not of course in the usual sense of 'intelligent design'.

I also wonder, if (and of course these are huge 'if's'), this kind of philosophy became the de facto for society, where would it lead? Would we have a complete breakdown, as if everything is a simulation, does anything really matter?  In a way it would be liberating - but also potentially chaotic.
