Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

I've had this awesome LIFE Magazine cover for some time as an inspiration, to remind me in my hobby that bicycles can be odd, and still awesome:

I mention this, because I finally built a bike that directly copies it. First, I bought this headboard from a thrift store for about $5:

Question, is it still called a headboard if it's not made out of wood?

Anyhoo, here is the bike as it stands now:

Now, the problem is that it's very wobbly. I'm too scared to test ride it. I'm thinking that I'll chop the wheels off, and place them on either side of the frame instead of underneath, making it low, and very long. I think it will still be very noticeable and unique, even if it's not six feet in the air.

Thanks, all. I had the bike at the largest bicycle show in Sacramento this last weekend, and I won "Best Radical Custom" and "Best Rat Rod" with it. So now, this fun little experiment is a multiple trophy winning show bike! Ahahaha!

Anyhoo, a morning show news crew was there, and I got on TV with this bike. Here's the segment, I'm the last third:

Almost forgot it is still called a headboard if not made of wood. The ancient Egyptians kings had "headboards'' made of gold and silver and Onyx. Decorative wooden head boards came into fashion during the middle ages.

Thats my random fact for the day :)
