Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Today, a friend pointed out this web-comic, called Romantically Apocalyptic. It's amazing looking, and while I haven't figured out yet if there is a bigger plot, the images are beautiful, and very dieselpunk in nature, particularly the outfits of the main character(s).

Check it out. I think I'll keep reading.

I love the visuals of this comic... but the writing and Internet-isms put me off. It makes me think of twelve-year-olds on 4Chan running riot in a museum of art. The guy clearly puts all of his focus on the visuals and spends about thirty seconds writing the script, which I feel is a shame.

As far as this type of thing goes I'm a fan of Gone With the Blastwave , which came first and seems a lot more thought-out.

Very similarly looking. I'll take a look at this one.

I will say that I like the colors and visuals of Romantically Apocalyptic better, with the blacks, greys, and splashes of red, but if the other has a better story, that's ultimately more important. I'll give it a read.

It's funny that you should bring this up. I actually offered up my writing hand for ' Romantically Apocalyptic.' I love the direction and the zaniness of the idea. Yes, however, it could use a brushing up, but it's direction is already set and uniquely defined. It has all the aspects of an overnight sensation.
I think it has a great look and great potential but that potential seems to be wasted. It's like someone had a good idea and obvious web talent but needed a good creative writer.
