The following is surely not one of the best PS2 games (not the worst either) but it's story and setting have a lot to offer for us Dieselpunks. So, I guess it's at least worth posting.
"Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army" is the full title and has not so much to do with other titles published by Altus under the likes of "Shin Megami Tensei" and "Devil Summoner". It's quite a bit confusing how many games were rel. under these titles but anyway - here's ome info to "Raidou Kuzunoha vs. The Soulless Army"
Raidou Kuzunoha is a private detective in Japan’s Taishou Period of the 1910s and 1920s, but he’s much more than just a well-dressed crime scene investigator; he also has the power to capture and conjure demons to do his bidding. Take control of Raidou and his otherworldly companions, guide them through thrilling episodes of action and intrigue, and learn the incredible secrets of the Soulless Army!
Mixing occult themes with an apparently otherwise-ordinary setting is a hallmark of the SMT series, and one of the reasons it has always been an M-rated series. If history is any indicator, Atlus can be trusted to deliver yet another game that appeals to a more mature gamer in terms of theme and mindset, not just on objectionable content.
hmm, I don't know the other titles. Here you walk/run the streets of Tokio, talk to various persons, gather clues, find secrtes etc. So mainly - RPG stuff, yes. The battles/action sequences are real-time battles and a bit boring. Either hack with a sword or use a gun and the opponents are fairly easy beaten. Now and then you can summon demons and that's it.
As I said - it's not THE game for the PS2 but quite ok and together with the story and setting worth getting for mid-price (imo)...

All I remember from the Shin Megami Tensei demo I played was blowing your characters' brains out with a gun to summon demons. It was a little weird to say the least. This version looks a lot different.
