Since when did "noir" become a codeword for "goth" on the internet?

I must be getting old.

When I look for "noir" on Google, a ton of goth sites pop up.

Since when did "noir" become a tween codeword for "goth" on the internet?

Really? That's not something I've come across.. but with the way mainstream trends adopt.. it almost doesn't surprise me that it's being used in such a way. .
. . .I did some quick research though and discovered that there is a comic book called 'Bête Noire' which has somewhat of a 'trendy goth' look/feel to it. It may be completely unrelated. .
I'm like TheBoyWhoLived in that I haven't noticed that. Doesn't mean you haven't noticed something I've missed though.
I'm seeing it used by the kindergoths who are into Twilight. Try searching "noir" on Etsy or Twitter and see what pops up.

I say let it be. People will adopt interest in various things for various reasons and always move on to something else.

The hounds will only be at the gate for a short time.
Kindergoths.

Ok, that made my day.

and now i need new coffee...and a rag.
I just googled the word myself and the first page yeilded the anime "Noir." Anime is popular, perhaps kids are scamming the term from the show.
There's new blood out there. Kids will adapt and adopt anything to "make it their own".
well the anime "noir" actually has a lot of film noir elements in terms of plotline. It's not abusing the term.
Right. But "Noir" the anime was more La Femme Nikita, and less vampires and bad poetry.

And here I though "emo" was the new goth, but with less a$$-kicking. Maybe I could be Gothic Noir! right... now I totally have some design ideas.
It was a rainy, cold Los Angeles evening, when Jonny got back from the nightclubs and logged on to his favorite websites. And saw this silliness about noir being goth. He took the toothpick from his mouth and tossed it onto the ground, and laughed - a laugh of derision and yet of extreme amusement. "Such foolishness," he thought as he cleaned his glock and tucked it into his drawer for the evening. "What these children won't think of next for their amusement."
Wait, a glock??
