Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Psst...hey, you.  Know where a fella can get a drink?

The Cap'n Knows, down in Charleston, at least.

There's this place down there, a real swinger's joint, that serves the Real McCoy: Old Fashioned cocktails, Manhattans, Negronis, and of course Martinis made to order - quality booze not watered down or sugared.

Real drinkers only. If you want an "Appletini", you can look elsewhere, pal.

The Speakeasy in Charleston, SC, is a bar for true Dieselpunks: relaxed intimate decor, great vintage cocktails mixed by a master bartender, and swing and jazz music (and no damned televisions!).

There are no signs, no listed address, no big swinging doors. Just a nondescript set of stairs between two more traditional nightclubs and an inocuous looking host or hostess at a stool outside. You have to know somebody to find it.

Good thing you know me.

Tell 'em the Cap'n sent you.

Now, they asked me not to reveal the location, see, but on the off chance you're hangin' around the corner of, say, Market Street and East Bay in downtown Charleston, SC, and were to turn, say, south, you might want to "look to the Light".

There's also the Gin Joint down the street and the Belmont Lounge on King Street that're worth the trip, too.

Well, damn. Now I want to go on an adventure. South Carolina is a bit far from Texas for casual searching, and it sounds like a bang up place!
Charleston's a fun city to visit for a variety of reasons, actually, and I recommend going. Once there, of course, the Speakeasy is a must. It opens about 6 or so, IIRC.
Do they serve food?

I don't believe so. It's strictly a drinking and meeting place from what I could tell in my couple of hours there. That said, there are hundreds of good eateries all around it.
