Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Now that the weather is warming up I noticed something. It seems to me that hot weather, which Texas is famous for, is going to possibly put a crimp in my dieselpunk style.

I'm sure where I'm going with this. It's just something that crossed my mind today.

What's your style? Three-piece isn't meant for endurance. Maybe you should look into picking up some surplus tunics to go over a light undershirt.
My photo is my primary style. When it's 100f plus in the shade along with a THI of 105f or more even a simple vest and tie is rather hot.

Hot weather's rough on style. When I lived in Arizona for 2 years, I learned a bit about hot-weather clothing. I found that a hat could make the difference between a tolerable day outside, and death by sun and dehydration.

Also, when it was 107+ that a long-sleeved shirt was more comfortable than a short-sleeved one. Sounds backwards, but a long-sleeved shirt works a bit like a personal evaporative cooler.

Just wear good deodorant...
You could wear just the vest, tie and hat without the shirt.

That would look classy.
LOL!

My mind went straight to suspenders.
Now there's a thought.

what about shorter sleeves? lighter colors? a tropical weight vest? linnen shirts? the seersucker suite look? great for the southern deiselpunk man!
Its been so long since i signed in here :(

As a child formerly of the tropics I can vouch for light cottons and linens as being incredibly cool and comfortable in summer, even with long sleeves.
Glad you're with us, Charlie. Sounds like good advice.

Linen. Linen is your friend. Linen is your bestest friend in the whole wide hot world. Mr. Athena and I have done over a dozen pennsic wars in the SCA and our best heat management in garb has always been Linen.
Being a Texas resident as well, for me, summer is all about light weight fabrics (linen and cotton mainly), and wearing as few layers as possible. Being nocturnal also helps significantly to beat the heat.
