Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture
The Mad Gasser
I thought these incidents could be a good inspiration for some dieselpunk story. Apparently in the 1940s and 1930s some unknown figure was running around in the US, gassing people in their homes. You can read about the different incidents at this webpage:

And here I thought my grandfather was the only mad gasser.
