Dieselpunks

Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

I was wondering if it would be possible to put together a list of what we consider to be the most popular or significant dieselpunk fiction? My lists of novels:
Fatherland by Robert Harris
Shadow in the Mist by Brian Moreland
Tales of the First Occult War by Kevin Cooney
The Keep by F Paul Wilson
Fiends of the Rising Sun by David Bishop

I based the above on some of the postings here. The only one of those I've read is Fatherland.

Of the short stories there are two from the book “The Best Alternative History Stories of the Twentieth Century” edited by
Harry Turtledove with Martin H. Greenberg that come to mind. “Lucky Strike” by Kim Stanley Robinson which involves an alternative ending to the decision to drop the Atomic Bomb on Japan. Another example of dieselpunk short story was “The Death of Captain Future” by Allen Steele, which won a Hugo Award.

Does anyone have any they would like to add?

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest Terry Pratchett's "Jingo" for its themes on Colonialism and Imperialism.

I also hope to add to this list very soon. ;)

Jingo seems more Clockpunk to me, though I agree on the colonialism...

Leviathan partly counts, being "Edwardian" and therefor Steam-Diesel crossover.

The Gernsbeck Continum should count. It's the "trope namer" for Raygun Gothic and follows as much a Deco vibe as a Googie one.

Sadly not much out there...yet. Up to us, folks!
Workin' on that...

Can't wait, Athena!

I've got a thousand ideas...and zero time to commit them. I can't even seem to get that short story I want to submit to Steampunk mag done. RL has been kicking me a lot lately.

Hope it's ok to do a little self-promo, but I just published the first two parts of my dieselpunk serial novel, The City Darkens. :)

Great!
