That book sounds so sweet! They also have a form you can fill out to recommend stories for reprint. I already recommended my story from the e-pulp showcase 2, "The Rocket Molly Syndicate." If anyone else would also recommend it, that would be great.

I can do that.  Plus, I have a short story I'd like to submit for the book. A combination of Nazis, spies, and the Sicilian Mafia.  Strange combination, but it works.  I just hope it's good enough for them to accept it.

Actually, that sounds fairly interesting.

Do you know how long a story can be to be submitted? I checked the link and nothing of that kind was mentioned. It's a little late for me since the deadline is so soon, but still, just for references.

the link is an email link.  You click it and it takes you to the website; if you hover your mouse pointer over it, and look in the bottom left hand corner of your screen, you'll see the email address itself. prime@prime-books.com, I think it is.  I don't know why they set it up like that.

What I've read,  it says the outer limit is 20K words, with a preference for 2-8K.

I'm confused. The blog states open submissions, but the website clearly states that they don't accept unsolicited submissions. Anyone know the blogger personally or can offer some clarity on this?

All I see is the deadline is on august 1, 2014.
Possibly a stupid question, but: is the pay rate for them to pay us, or for us to pay them? If it's us being paid, that means 5-8 cents a word accounts for $150-$400 average for a story. Not bad, i'll say, for the amount of time put in. I might do something for next time.

Sorry, the pay rate and word count I read were out of date.  I've been looking, trying to find more information on the submission guidelines, but I'm finding nothing.  I am going to write to the submission email address, to see if I can get more information.  I'll report back if/when I get any new information.

Again, sorry.

Oh, it's cool. At least we actually know something like this exists. I've always like compilations of dieselpunk short stories. I would put the blame on the people making the offering, not you. We're not going to shoot the messenger. Any more information you can gather up will be thoughtful. Thank you, and thank you again for telling us about the mammoth book of Dieselpunk. I just might buy it when it comes out.

Okay, I just heard back from Mr. Wallace.  His exact words:

"AJ: I'm looking for 2,000 to 20,000 words, paying 5 cents to 8 cents a word for originals, and 2 cents to 3 cents a word for
reprints. Email it to prime@prime-books.com I can pretty much handle any format you throw at me.

Sean"

Hope that helps!

Let me add a little on that, just for a better idea(mostly for myself haha). So an average page holds 300 words. Then that means about 7-70 pages of space. $150 - $400 ($1,000 if you max out) for originals and $40 - $240 ($400 if you max out). Laid out like that, it's best to be original.

That helped a lot!
