It might be a little rough making a truck from the '80s look like its from the '30s - '40s on a limited budget.

Is there enough money to get it painted?  Maybe throw a coat of olive drab on there with a GI star on each door.  Or go with a flat gray and get some nosecone art printed on vinyl to stick on the doors.

You could also go with a yellow coat and trim out the whole bed in hardwood like early model Fords.

In my experience, it's hard to go near a vehicle with the thought of dramatically changing its look without a load of cash in your pocket, so I don't know how crazy you're willing to get.

As a Fellow Ramcharger owner (a '79) who has also given this a few turns around the ol'  ~ What If ~ I would be GREATLY interested in seeing where you go with this!!!

I love Tome's "nose art" suggestion! . . . Unfortunately, mine would have to a be a bit more "restrained" from what I might prefer having to comply with the discerning tastes of the wife and grandkids. (LOL) But still, I can sure see the potential!!!

I agree. Tome's nose art idea was one I hadn't considered. I thought about going with a military theme, but more Army than Air Force. There are some great tattoo artists up here that would be able to come up with something tasteful to be transferred to vinyl if I go that route. The ol' girl is a little rusty ( seems like everything here in Alaska is ), so I have some bodywork to do first. That suggestion also gave me a direction for the interior, with a wood floor cargo area, and aviation-style instruments and switchgear.  Thanks for the input and inspiration!

Yeah, "Rust Never Sleeps", to quote the bard. My Montana Battle Beast isn't much better. One of the reasons I've been spinning the modification idea around. = If ya gotta go through all that work to keep her alive, . . . why not have some FUN with it?! She has always been a great truck that has never left me stranded in all of these years. I think that she deserves and would enjoy the attention.

Question = What are you looking at in the way of tires and rims?

Stock T & R's would "look" more period, but I like a bit more meat to get me through the snow and mud.

Well, right now it's on some generic steel white spokes and all-terrain tires. I have 31x10.5R15 studded snow tires on some Ford Alcoa alloys for winter use. When I get the funds together for new summer rolling stock, I intend to find an aggressive all terrain or mild mudder. The wheel choice is going to be tough. I may reuse the Ford alloys, strip the clearcoat and have them powdercoated black unless I come across something that fits my theme better. There's a ton of choices out there, just need to sit down and search for something I like.

Maybe some "Spinners" if they look like Airplane Props??? Or would that be too much like ~ STEAM ~ punk???    LOL  Just kidding!
