That is fantastic!!! I love the humor and the film noir look. How in the world did you find that?
The internet is vast and limitless.
Amazing piece! "It's is the stuff festivals are made of" is most likely based on a line from The Maltese Falcon (1941), with Hunphrey Bogart. Sadly it seems we don't have too many animations, maybe save for some old comedy Warner shorts, about noir movies. The last I remember I watched was one of the Animatrix.
"A Detective Story?"

It's one of my favorites.
Oh the swiss cheese a.k.a. my memory, yes, this one. One of a lot of people's fav, as far as I know. The cat throwing the detective's hat is fantastic. :)

Hum... would you consider Metropolis, the japanese animation, as being noir? Or, at least, interesting to get proper topic here?
The anime Metropolis got some love here a while back. It doesn't capture the same appeal as the original Fritz Lang movie though, mainly because the noir was stripped down in place of more sci-fi.

Yes! In my opinion The Detective Story is possibly one of the truest examples of dieselpunk anime that I've ever seen. The way it mixes diesel era with deco style computers and a noir storyline is fantastic.
