As a big fan of waistcoats, I ran into one minor controversy. It is said, that one cannot carry anything inside pockets of a more or less formal waistcoat, but a pocket watch. At the same time, nowadays people tend to carry less pocket watches, and more cellphones and other gadgets. So, how would our respected community feel about carrying smartphones inside a waistcoat pocket? In fact, they also can be used to measure time:)

That's the whole point of dieselpunk. Take the old style and make it work today. Hell, I'd love to see a waistcoat with a deep/narrow pocket designed just for smartphones.

Permalink Reply by Dizzy on March 26, 2012 at 10:15am i say carry anything in a pocket you want, pockets are there to make a garment more useful, and more practical, so utilize them in a way that works for you, i have a menswear style vest i love, and one pocket always has my pocket watch and the other has a small tin of altoids, because those are two things i can't be without thats what makes it really work is making it work for you!

^^^ that would be cool Tome. I'd personally put a pocket watch in mine but I can see putting my cellphone in my other pocket once I get my first suit & vest.
