Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

If you were at a nightclub that played dieselpunk and electroswing music, what song would get you up and dancing as soon as you heard it?

I agree with Larry plus

Bathtube Gin Serenades

Lee Press On (I knwe here so...)

Squirrel Nut Zippers

and Caro Emerald (as an artist)

I can't believe I forgot any of those mentioned by N. Inmunsapá. Good recommendations.

I would also add Casino Slut Bar.

Ladies and gentlemen,

Your music choices have been heard.

Come one, come all to AltDance in San Francisco, CA every Thursday night in October and hear your favorite tunes on the dancefloor.  AltDance is a start-up experiment running just this month to see if a full-time dieselpunk/steampunk night club is viable in San Fran.

After October, the choice to keep it going or not will be based on whether the event brought in enough *punks to stay afloat in these rough economic times.

Even better, one lucky winner from this thread will get free admission to check it out.  Brian Gardner, the event coordinator will be getting in touch with you to hash out the details.  Even if you can't attend, spread the word.

Are industrial and EBM music something for dieselpunks? Or are the music from the years in the worldwar that dieselpunks listing to?

I see a big connection between the style, designs in dieselpunk and the music scene and concerts in Europe.

I find this tread best to ask in.

I love electro-swing and know other Dieselpunks who do so also. In my opinion, it's very Dieselpunk.

I don't know electro swing. I have to learn some of the dieselpunk.

I like to hear some. Did you have a link I can see and hear?

Here are two very popular electro-swing bands.

Tape Five

Caravan Palace
