I wouldn't say cynicism, rather than realism. The oil in the Gulf? If that isn't a sign of the end, times, I couldn't tell you what is.

I agree Twizard. The Dieselpunks Jukebox is wonderful.

With so much cynicism and dispair in the media today, what a breath of fresh air!!

There is some overlap. Some songs are just too good to get rid of.

As for the last few songs, I typically reserve the contemporary music for the end of the playlist. The beats and singing styles of today don't blend well with the traditional swing and jazz, so I didn't want any trainwrecks in the mix.

I think that both the Summer and Fall playlists have the same songs, in the same order on them. (They have the same last 10 songs at least)

It's my great pleasure to be here and your interest in our music makes me happy! We have a fairly high-profile gig coming up and we're headlining, but after that we'll be putting the finishing flourishes to the songs and artwork of our new EP!

I certainly going to be watching your site. Both FB and MySpace. It's great to have you with us.

We're currently recording the new material (which is far more jazzy with a string section and flute, etc.!) so keep your eyes peeled for anyone who's interested! x

Dr. Carilla,
Thanks for posting. Since not everyone is on Facebook I'm posting a link to your MySpace page.

We'll have some more songs soon, but I'd like to introduce the worlds first dieselpunk cabaret: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=161483183871581#!/pages/Dr-Carmilla-the-Mechanisms/113822398670395

awesome, I can listen to this from work! Our local Comcast has a "singers and swing" or somethign like that as a music channel that I listen to quite often.

Wesley, my next blog posting, scheduled for Sept 12, will be addressing dieselpunk bands, which will include a list of various artists and bands with some along similar lines as Parker and DSO. Though I have to say both are pretty unique. Especially Wolfgang Parker who's in a league of his own. I'll also cover good sources online to listen to them.

I'll check around. The problem with contemporary music is that it needs to be licensed, or we need permission from the artist/label in order to play it. So, if you know of any dieselpunk bands that want exposure, point them in my direction.

The radio doesn't allow songs to be downloaded, so it's similar to the streaming players on MySpace or LastFM.

One last thought:

Are there anymore artists in the way of Wolfgang Parker, Diablo Swing Orchestra, etc., and if so, would you kindly add them to the setlist?

Good picks Wesley.

I plan on updating the setlist this weekend. If you, or anyone else has any other picks, let me know ASAP!
