I might be way behind everyone else on this - you may all be aware of Les Machines de L’île i Nantes, France.  We went over there for a film festival (Dimensions was playing) and were stunned by the mechanical creatures - including a giant elephant that can carry 49 people.  It really was incredible to see, and they are expanding it all the time.I've done a blog post with lots of photos and video from our trip. We saw this at Manchester Science Museum and thought it was pretty amazing. It's an ARVO, made be Alliot Verdon Roe who build and flew the first all British aeroplane. I'm not sure when this one dates from.See More
