That 30s sound

When I hear music that's been recorded a long time ago, it has quite a distinctive sound. I guess it's due to the recording equipment of the time. A kind of rasping perhaps. I was wondering if there…Continue

I don't know if it's just me, but I no longer see the Forum as an option up in the menu. From the right to left I see Home, Articles, Events, Photos, Music and so on. The Forum option used to be in there somewhere before. I can still access it from my bookmarks, but not by clicking on any links.See More

That 30s sound

When I hear music that's been recorded a long time ago, it has quite a distinctive sound. I guess it's due to the recording equipment of the time. A kind of rasping perhaps. I was wondering if there are any easy filters you could apply to modern digital recordings, to get that same kind of sound.See More

Why don't you just go pulp yourself?

Since now you can. There's a website where you can use the PULP-O-MIZER to create your own science fiction story covers. It seems you will even have the chance to make coffe mugs or posters out of them. This has so much potential!http://thrilling-tales.webomator.com/derange-o-lab/pulp-o-mizer/pulp-o-mizer.htmlSee More

Nazi expedition to Tibet uncovered Buddhist statue carved from meteorite

This just sounds like the perfect thing to use in a dieselpunk story. Perhaps weaving it in with the story of the Dropa.Nazi magic meteorite statueSee More

New movie out called Hotel Noir

I just noticed a new movie will be out in a few days, which takes place in a noir setting. Private detectives, femme fatales and all that jazz. Though apparently no jazz. The cast itself makes me interested. However it seems it might not actually be released in cinemas, but rather just for download.See More

Ghost - the comic

Some years ago Dark Horse Comics ran a series called Ghost. It was about a woman named Elisa Cameron, and her quest for vengeance after she died and turned into a ghost. Besides being able to move through walls and such ghostly things, she also carried with her two pistols, in the style of The Shadow and other pulp heroes. The series took place in a city called Arcadia, which had a general 1930s styling to it. I thought people on here might be interested in the series, if you like some of the…See More

This is the jacket I would wear, if I was commander of an evil empire's airship fleet

I just saw this jacket. It's a German WWI aviator flying coat actually, apparently made from horsehide. I like how it manages to look evil, without giving a Gestapo vibe. I could see this being useful if you wanted to dress up in a dieselpunk fashion. See More

Is the movie Brick worth watching?

I recently saw the movie Public Enemies, about John Dillinger and his gang. It wasn't actually that interesting. I wanted to get hold of the movie Brick as well, which is meant to have dialogue done in a Film Noir kind of way, even if set in modern times. Anyone here who has seen it, and can tell me if it is any good?See More

The closest thing to Shangri-La

I don't know how many of you have heard of the small Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. It's a place that has been rather isolated from the outside world untill recently. This makes it a bit like how Tibet was back in the 1930s. They also have laws decreeing that people should wear traditional clothes and build traditional houses. It would be a good place to go, if you want to have an adventure feeling. I'm not sure how pleasant the place is, I believe they only banned slavery quite recently. However…See More

Join the Hellboy Training Camp

I just saw that in Portland, Oregon a summer camp themed around the Hellboy comics is being arranged this summer. I wish they'd had something like this when I was younger. It's being described as a BPRD training camp, where you learn all the skills for battling the occult and surviving in the wilderness. It's good to know future generations will also know how to defend themselves against things on tresholds and whatnot.…See More

The Lady Noire

It seems Dior made a range of commercials, some of which is in a 1930s style. It doesn´t make much sense to me but it looks pretty. I thought you might like to see them. http://youtu.be/4EOtFYcHdAE http://youtu.be/ZPAO4k_WstkSee More
