Can you give me the links to the sites you were referring to?

I found the illustrations from the never seen Black Beauty Special.  It looks like there are about 40 of them. They're mostly illustrator files from 1993 and a little disorganized. I'm thinking of setting up a flickr gallery for the "Black Beauty Special That Never Was" to put some context around the images.

What do you think?

As far as i know the Black Beauty Special never came out. Although i did get paid for all my work. I'll see if i can find the artwork if you're curious. I'm sure I still have it in my archive. Actually, i just remembered I have the blueprints i created for the 60s black beauty on my website. Here is the link to the image.

For some reason the Green Hornet editors, decided that the 30s version should be a 1942 Cadillac, not the coupe from the serials. Some how Kato somehow invented it and built it nearly a decade earlier than GM.

The night vision argument started something like this.

ME: "What is the difference between the Black Beauty's night-vision headlights and regular headlights?"

THEY: "These are special."

ME: "If they are beams of light, why wouldnt anyone else see what they illuminated?"

THEY: "What do you mean?"

ME: "If the green headlights are shining on something, and there is nothing special about whatever Brit and Kato are looking through to see or amplify the light, anyone else looking at the light would see the same thing."

THEY: "What do you mean?"

ME: "Do you know how night-vision actually works?"

As you can imagine this took awhile....

Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out.

In the early 90s I used to work with Now Comics. And I remember these same type of arguments about the Hornet. They usually arose when fans of different generations collided. Someday I'll have to tell you about the time I tried to explain how night vision reallyworks while working on a Black Beauty Special Edition.

For someone who never saw the new "Green Hornet attempt," you certainly nailed all the points. I wish I was as well informed as you were about it... I wish i could un-see it!

I had to re-watch the serials to try and rinse my eyes.

Hey Bill,

I finally saw the new Green Hornet movie... I don't think the understood the original material at all.

What did you think?

I see you're a fellow Hornet fan. I built a couple of things you may be interested in. Here is a 3d model of the original Green Hornet...

Here is his gas gun...
