Tome Wilson replied to drew23's discussion 'dubstep/bassline?'
"I think that the consensus is still out as to what defines steampunk music. I believe steampunk to be an aesthetic as opposed to a genre, so building a consistent setlist from more than two bands who self-label as steampunk can be difficult at…"

Tome Wilson replied to drew23's discussion 'dubstep/bassline?'
"In Philadelphia, the overlap of *punk to goth is almost 100%. So, if you're meeting with other *punks to dance, you're doing it at a primarily gothic/industrial event. Thankfully, Philadelphia has a rich cultural history, so get-togethers…"

dubstep/bassline?

just wondering if it's different in other cities...here in Vancouver, the only music they play at any steampunk-y events is dubstep/laserbass/crunk/bassline/whatever. think mimosa, vibesquad, bassnectar, glitchmob, that sort of thing.in fact, I'd go so far as to say that any 'steampunk' movement here in Van started from the bassline-addicted leather-and-feathers crowd starting to embrace more and more of the steampunk aesthetic, rather than the other way around. drew23 replied to Hayen Mill's discussion 'BioDieselPunk?'
"I don't know about biodieselpunk - what has drawn me to the idea of dieselpunk was more the diy ethic and return to victorian/industrial styles, but without the fantastic portion. IE the throwing off of the "wow, wouldn't life have…"
