My cousin is retiring from the Navy today, and it is at the Seebees museum in Port Huyneme, CA. This place is amazing with a lot of historical items of Dieselpunk interest. When I get home tonight,…Continue

West Coast Dieselpunk Events?

The Dieselpunk movement seems to be growing, but I haven't heard of any events, cons, etc. local to Southern California. I don't mean a panel at a general comic con type of event, or a small part of…Continue

I am a lifestyler.  Pretty much that means that as a rule, I listen to vintage music or music inspired y the DP era.  I also happen to dress up wherever I go. Not anything spectacular, just slacks, a…Continue

West Coast Dieselpunk Events?

The Dieselpunk movement seems to be growing, but I haven't heard of any events, cons, etc. local to Southern California. I don't mean a panel at a general comic con type of event, or a small part of a steampunk convention. I'm wondering if anyone has heard of an actual dieselpunk event here in SoCal.I know about Dapper Day a Disneyland, but is there anything else out there? If not, I'll just start one.       ;)See More

All right, youse guys and dolls. For a few years now, you've been showing off your duds. Now, let's show off our digs. Ya know, the place where you hang your hat. Anti-Dieselpunk prejudice

I am a lifestyler.  Pretty much that means that as a rule, I listen to vintage music or music inspired y the DP era.  I also happen to dress up wherever I go. Not anything spectacular, just slacks, a nice dress shirt, usually with a tie, and my black fedora (not a trilby, darnit, a FEDORA). A couple of years back I was dressed as such when I dropped off an application. No, I wasn't in a three-piece with a pocketwatch or wearing aviator goggles or anything. Just a shirt, tie, hat, nice pants and…See More

Idea for Online Dieselpunk Fiction Zine

Steampunk has lots of fiction to read. It did start as a literary movement after all, that morphed into a DIY subculture. Dieselpunk, however, rose from numerous sources - films like Sky Captain, The Rocketeer, etc., the swing revival of the 1990s, and a few other things. Yes, I'm generalizing. Let's not start an argument. But one thing I have not seen much of is Dieselpunk fiction.I see a few people here on the forums saying they are beginning to write some DP fiction. I wanna see it, and I…See More

Tweaking the Accepted Dieselpunk Timeline...

I know that this will sound strange coming from a relative newbie on this site, but I've put some thought into this. As I mentioned in another thread, I understand that the current accepted "traditional" Dieselpunk time frame is the period between the World Wars, and I agree that most of the essence of the scene is derived from that time. Although, I have to admit I often find myself thinking that it should be extended slightly in both directions. This is more of a thought exercise, and not…See More

To Mr. Johnny B. Goode

I somehow, stupidly, just realized that I ran into you in real life a few months back. You were in your best Toy Soldier uniform, outside the Walmart in West Lancaster raising money for charity. My wife, son and I struck up a conversation with you because I had never seen a Toy Soldier in real life. Although I don't post much here, I'm on this site frequently and I never put two and two together.I was looking at some of the photos in the "duds" section and my wife said "Hey, that's the…See More
