As it says in the title this is a 1940 Motorola model: 50-X-2, and its one of the most beautiful radios I've ever seen.
The spring loaded handle on the top, and bullet style knobs are all original. The dial gives off a warm, orange, glow when the radio is switched on. If you notice the speaker design it's comprised of eight fins that taper down too the lefthand side. As somebody who's done a fair amount of 3D modeling I could make a 3D model of this... but it would take me while, which makes me wonder how did they make these radios so perfectly shaped, and so precise, back in 1940, and do it all by hand, and from that create a mold to mass produce them on an assembly line. I can't help but be in awe of the skilled craftsmanship involved in creating this little marvel.

Comment by Cameron Henry on December 15, 2011 at 5:01pm it's like the radio that travels with the brave little toaster.
How cool
Comment by Scott on December 15, 2011 at 10:54am @Alex Bolado Feminine... what are you talking about??? This radio is so damn manly it would be what John Wayne or Lee Marvin would be listening too if they were still alive.

Comment by Larry on December 14, 2011 at 11:11pm That was made in 1940? It certainly seemed ahead of its time for looks like a radio from the 1950s.
Comment by Alex Bolado on December 14, 2011 at 9:44pm There's something kinda cute, kinda feminine about this radio. Neat, but nothing I would want personally.
Looks like something Dick Tracy would listen to! I agree about the workmanship - they don't make 'em like that any more!
