Today is November 12th. Dieselpunk Day. Our day.
As a holiday, it holds as much influence as any other corporate-created greeting card sales campaign. However, let's aside the word and focus on what the day represents.
In Philadelphia, Dieselpunk Day started as a snowy and wet Tuesday. Whether you work in a city, on the land, or in the home, we all woke up to the same day; and at first glance, it looks a lot like yesterday. You'll go through your routine, make ends meet, and rest again in preparation for tomorrow.
If this is your world, you’ll remember today as just another day and when we see each other next week, I won't look you in the eye because I'll be looking ahead.
To rest and be content is not what today is for. Today reminds us that we have something in our hearts screaming at us to look to the future. It's a future that has not been built yet, but we know it will be a better place. We know this because we are not content. We know this because we are building the future.
Remember this. Even if it's just for one day, remember this.
For the future,
