Dieselpunk Industries TV Beta for Chrome, Safari, iOS and Android

Tome and I talked about this a while back and I thought it was time to let you folks in on it.

After having discussions with friends who’ve “cut the cord” with their cable company I’ve discovered that a lot of them miss watching random stuff on TV. What I miss, especially with channels like Turner Classic Movies are the station ids and interstitial stuff. So I built my own channel that is the best of both worlds. You can watch it like on demand tv but also as a playlist as well. This lets you go to the menu and select a different film and it will resume the playlist at that point. I’ve also included station ids and preview shorts to create a more traditional tv viewing experience without all the commercials.

Currently there is about 30 hours of movies and serials available and I plan to add more. One other feature is that each time you reload the page  the movies will reorganize themselves in random groups, again this is to help create the effect of coming home and turning on the television. If you happen to use a chromecast or apple tv it works really well with both.

One last thing if anybody has any content they would like me to add let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Hope you enjoy and Let me know what you think.

Thanks, Scott

The Film Noir section is live. I've got 12 movies there and some my not quite be noir, but close enough. I've got two or three more I still need to add.

• Kansas City Confidential
• The Chase
• D.O.A
• Scarlet Street
• Please Murder Me
• They Made Me a Criminal
• Detour
• Waterfront Lady
• The Stranger
• Amazing Mr. X
• Behind Green Lights
• The Scar AKA Hollow Triumph

I think people almost expect to see trailers these days.  It's fits the MTV mindset (I'm dating myself there, aren't I?).

Me?  I'm a sucker for a good trailer.  Give me a one minute before I invest an hour or more in your story.  Sure, the trailers can be deceiving, but oftentimes they're just as entertaining as the film itself.

On the noir update front I'm encoding The Scar that's got Paul Henreid and Joan Bennett and I also found a better copy of Kansas City Confidential that I've just finished uploading. So lots of stuff in the pipe there.

On a different note you all have the opportunity to have commercial free TV and you want ads... I don't know whether to laugh or cry. Fortunately for all of you that's totally possible because I have tons of old tv ads. I can even create a section with nothing but ads if you want. Also because DPITV is template based I can create a "channel", for lack of a better word, with just old TV shows, or maybe movie serials. The world is our oyster.

The Big Heat, Cry Vengance, and Quicksand are all tied in first for me. Each on of those has their own little thing that makes them so rememberable. Definantly have those in the mix of you can.

And Human Bondage isn't Noir but it is an amazing dark story with Betty David doing some of her best acting.

Also I remember seeing a movie a long time ago on Netflix that I can never find anymore. It was from around the 60s in black and white, but I forgot the name of it. It had the main character in his teens(or just a young age) and he sees his father get beat by a man named Judge in a bar, his father being told to pull his pants down so he can be whipped with a belt in front of everyone. Then later the main character goes to a club and sees a black woman singing and after the show he tells her she's beautiful, despite being a negro.

That's all I remember, but it was such a weird movie in a good way. Anyone know the name of it?

I second the old time commercials.

Great choice!  Detour is is in my top ten.  I didn't know what I was getting into when I started watching it (some of the old noirs can be real stinkers), but the acting and plot were really beyond their day.

Without a doubt Detour, I love Ann Savage in that. I think Tom Neal being such a jerk in real life adds to it's mystique.

Great work, Scott!  Which upcoming noir movie on DPI is your favorite?
