Thanks for including the Dallas String Band playing the Hokum Blues.

We're quite proud of our Blues heritage here. The first published Blues song was the "Dallas Blues." Blind Lemon and other greats played in Dallas. In fact, Robert Johnson made his last recording in Dallas. I often drive by the building he recording in on my way to work.

Not long ago I was in the area called Deep Ellum, which was the heart of African-American entertainment in Dallas during the first half of the 20th century, helping to set up for a Steampunk event and couldn't help but think about the great Blues players that had walked those same sidewalks I was strolling on. In fact, the building we were in was there during the diesel era, which sent shivers down my spin thinking who might have once played there.

Thanks Pilsner for posting your collection. Your site provides a real service in helping preserve our musical heritage.
