I swear I am not making this stuff up. About a week ago, the Japan Times ran an article on an exclusive cabaret club in Tokyo's adult-entertainment area of Kabukicho, and this club's unique selling point is ... robots. Not cute, manga-type robots; not mecha; not industrial/rescue machines; but 3-meter tall "Sucker Punch" style Fembots that scare the life out of you with their Amazonian breasts and Uncanny-Valley type faces.
The club, named (naturally) Robot Restaurant, also features flesh-and-blood pole dancers who perform their routines on top of customized models of tanks and a B-52 bomber. This, according to the manager Dai Tokutake, represents the theme of "Josen" (women and war), a phrase coined by the club's owner, who insists on remaining anonymous.
The entrance fee is 4,000 yen, (about 200 dollars) which will get you a bottle of green tea, a box dinner of rice, vegetables, meat and fish, and one hour of batshit insanity.

Gotta love Japan!
Comment by T. von Kramer on October 22, 2012 at 4:58am Sorry, John Paul, I studied these photos long and hard but didn't notice a single tank, bomber, or robot.
Comment by Docneg on October 21, 2012 at 10:06am Not sure if I left Japan at the right time or the wrong time. But this is so typical of the Japanese slant on spectacle and trendiness.
