Two years, one hundred weekly columns... This Friday, I owe you something special.
Paulette Goddard, getting into her husband's (Charlie Chaplin) Rolls-Royce Phantom II, invites you to ride with the stars. Just to make things clear: today I didn't browse through dozens of web pages and my own archive folders to prepare this column. Instead, I simply borrowed the stuff from an awesome thread of the friendly forum. Let's go!
For strarters, some 20s glamour:
Fatty Arbuckle and his 1919 Pierce Arrow
Erich Von Stroheim and his Cadillac
Harold Lloyd and wife Mildred Davis with their Buick
Lincoln Theodore Monroe Andrew Perry aka Stepin Fetchit with his Cadillac Phaeton
Joan Crawford with her 1929 Ford Town Car
Babe Ruth receiving a 1926 Auburn Roadster as a gift
And now - to 30s and 40s!
Lilian Harvey and her Mercedes
Johnny Weissmuller with his 1932 Chevrolet
Clark Gable with his 1932 Packard
Laurel and Hardy in their Buick 1930 Series 30 Model 30-45 phaeton
Joan Crawford (again) and her 1930 (or 1931) Cadillac Fleetwood
Carl Brisson behind the wheel of his 1934 Isotta Fraschini
William Powell admires Gary Cooper's Duesy
Buck Jones with his 1933 Packard Special (some sources say: 1936 Cadillac)
Errol Flynn driving his Packard...
Tyrone Power with his Duesenberg...
Robert Montgomery with his Cadillac Sport Phaeton
Joan Crawford (yes, again!) driving her 1934 Ford roadster
James Stewart with his Plymouth
Ginger Rogers and her 1937 Dodge
Norwegian Olympic figure-skating champion, and Hollywood star Sonja Henie, posing with her Cord 810
Cecil B deMille with his 1937 Cord
Rita Hayworth with her 1941 Lincoln Continental
Bing Crosby giving rides around the studio lot in his 1939 Olds coupe convertible
Cary Grant parked on the fender of his 1941 Buick Century
And finally, some double-retro:
John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara in a 1914 Stutz Bearcat
I believe it will be most appropriate to express my most sincere gratitude to Tome Wilson who invented this column and to everyone who encouraged me to continue. The ride goes on. See you next Friday.

Comment by lord_k on February 10, 2012 at 5:07pm Dear Elmo,
you can visit the Fedora Lounge to see some more photos (of lesser quality maybe). Besides, a Google image search for "Fatty Arbuckle Pierce Arrow" brings a surprisingly high number of results. I'll be happy to help you with any particular car/person. And I always wondered what it was like to grow up in a movie theater.
I grew up in a movie theater during the '30s and '40s. The combination of the "great ones" from the past, along with their prized possessions, put me on a "high" more so than "four fingers" of white lightning in a mason jar. The nostalgia was awesome. Are there more photos? Long live the classics -- people and wheels. elmoeddie
Thanks for straightening me out. My erroneous assumption was based on his face being clearly focused, while his hands and the steering wheel are not. Cheers!

No, it is not photoshopped. It's just proper use of lighting, and they were keen about that in Hollywood that time
Anyone besides me think that the photo of Flynn in the Packard appears to be Photoshopped?
