Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

Hello my Grease Stained Allies,

Last night I went to the midnight viewing of SuckerPunch.  Now don't worry no spoilers here.  The visual style in which it was film was beautiful.  There were two different filming looks and both compliment the story excellently.  The acting was not outstanding, but strong and conveyed the message for the most part.  The special effects were nicely done and not completely over the top. The soundtrack and score were one of the best parts of the movie I shall be buying it today.  The story was sadly very predictable especially if you are a fan of Japanese cinema and literature.  Now predictable doesn't mean bad, just that it has been done before, but then again only Adam and Eve ( or Steve) had the safety of being original.  Now for the punk side; rare is a movie that so seamlessly and easily combines steam, diesel, and cyber punk together.  I'm not if I can remember one that does, unless you count Robot Carnival.  The women are dressed suggestively but that also ties in with the story and is forgivable (and as a guy I liked it, sorry).  In total I would say that if you want a couple hours of entertainment without higher cerebral requirements it is a excellent choice.

Seen it. And liked it. I'm beginning to really appreciate Zack Snyder's style.

I just read on Captain Robert (Abney Park) twitter page that he really liked it. He said it's a "visually stunning blend of Inception, Pans Lybrinth...and, what, Shows Girls? :D Anyway, it was pretty cool!"

I definitely want to see it!
