The Hindenburg Ashtray, from the Antiques Roadshow archives

As I was packing to leave Baltimore yesterday, I turned on the television, and it landed on the Antiques Road Show. I was busy ignoring it, until I heard the mention of "Hindenburg", which quickly caught my attention. Seems that a lady had a family heirloom from her father regarding the Hindenburg.

It was an ashtray made of aluminium, with a glass replica of the Hindenburg above it. The glass zeppelin is filled with fuel used to run the engines of the Hindenburg (putting a low level heat source just below fuel - interesting concept. For more detail from it and what it was appraised for and a few more facts about zeppelin travel, please follow this link: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/roadshow/archive/200605A20.html, a bit more here: http://www.airships.net/blog/hindenburg-ashtray, and here: http://www.airships.net/hindenburg/flight-schedule/millionaire-flight

There's something morbidly ironic about a Hindenburg ashtray.
