My local paper has a section on "Today in History" and there were two events today (Dec 28) that others might find interesting.

1927 The musical "Show Boat" opened at Ziegfield Theater in New York City.

1932 Radio City Music Hall opened in New York City.

Today, January 16, marks the anniversary of several interesting events.
1920 Prohibition began in the US as the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution took effect, one year to the day after its ratification.

1935 Fugitive gangster Fred Barker and his mother, Kate "Ma" Barker. were killed in a shootout with the FBI at Lake Weir, Fla

1944 Gen Dwight D Eisenhower took command of the Allied Expeditionary Forces in London.
