Great post! I can't wait to visit lovely Cleveland... and on the New York Central. My grandfather was some kind of an executive for the N.Y.C., but I've never been able to find out exactly what he did there. Grandma, as a "railroad widow," had a so-called "lifetime pass" to all of their trains, but when the railroad went under (in the early 1970's), there went the pass, too. From then on, she had to pay for her tickets like everybody else. And I'm sure she never went to Cleveland; as a Fifth-Avenue type matron, she would have been horrified by the place. Even then.
