Dieselpunk + Steampunk Culture

I Wish This Was An April Fool's Day Gag, But It's Not!

Sorry, Pilsner's Picks fans, but I'm still temporarily out of business due to a copyright infringement claim by my web host, 4Shared. This claim happens to be clearly mistaken, but the company's legal counsel can't seem to understand why. So there won't be any April playlist, but I might be back in May with some more free music.

Free music, yes— where but in America can you get in trouble for giving something away? Sheesh!

Thanks for your moral support in this stupid mess, Larry, and there also happen to be a number of fans in the Dieselpunks community who really like my monthly selections, so I want to keep going. I don't like letting people down.

I enjoy putting the monthly playlists together, too; they're not just a random selection of tunes. I pick the Picks carefully, having so much great old music to choose from (I started collecting 78's when I was twelve years old, and now I'm, let's say, slightly older). I'm going to try to keep the shop open, but if I get much more resistance from this twit, I just might decide that it's not worth it.

So, "Stay tuned for our next exciting episode, friends— will there be a May Pisner's Picks? Even Pils doesn't know!" [Closing theme music up, then fade out].

Oh hell. I'm sorry to read all of this. You've provided a great service to the dieselpunk community. I hope this idiot doesn't win.

Well, I don't know, Larry. I now have this idiot lawyer to deal with, and she doesn't seem to understand that the year 1927 isn't the year 1928!

She's apparently from some country in the old Soviet Bloc (on the phone, she sounds like Natasha from the Rocky and Bullwinkle Show), and she came over here with a some kind of bogus Law degree that she must have gotten from some diploma mill in Guatemala or God knows where by sending in a matchbook cover and $29.95 USD. In any case, she's a truly monumental idiot, and one for the books!

So, I just might close up the old Pilsner's Picks circus tent after nearly twelve years on the web, in one form or another. There comes a point when, maybe, some things just aren't worth doing any more— sadly enough.

"Mit der Dummheit kämpfen Götter selbst vergebens" —Frederich von Schiller (1759-1805)

Translation: "With stupidity, the Gods themselves struggle in vain." So what am I supposed to do? Oy, gevalt!

I'm doing my best, Larry. This whole megillah is ridiculous because:

A) I clearly did NOT violate the vile Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Law of 1998, and,

B) Even if I did, I'm clearly covered by the Title 17 Fair Use Exception Clause (which appears in full on my web page)! Of course, some of the Dieselpunks folks have e-mailed me, asking what's happened. Well, I'm dealing with a corporate legal counsel who's a real moron, that's what's happened! But I'm not going to take this nonsense lying down, and like the great Gen. Douglas MacArthur— "I SHALL RETURN!"

That's horrible! I hope you get this resolved soon.
