The Picks Aren't "Back In The Groove," Not Just Yet...

Sorry, fellow Dieselpunks, but this is due to the fact that I'm still looking around for a suitable new web host, and I'm also still dealing with the ongoing effects of moving. I only moved about two miles, but it was quite a project— and it remains unfinished, with some of my belongings boxed up in storage for now.

For those of you who can't do without your regular fix of 1920's-30's hot music (and after all, who can't?), I recommend the fine online and broadcast programs of my esteemed colleagues in shellac, Rich Conaty ("The Big Broadcast," WFUV-FM), and Andy Senior ("Radiola," Live 365). As for me, I'll be back, with a stack, in October.

At least that's the plan. "Catch you on the flip side," gang—

Thanks, Larry! I've been getting a number of messages lately from people who miss my little monthly vintage music programs and wonder what's been happening there, so here's an update.

I finally got to the point where the constant hassles with 4Shared's boneheaded immigrant copyright lawyer over the Fair Use Clause were too aggravating to deal with any more. Basically, she doesn't understand it at all— no matter how or how many times I've tried to explain it to her, and I've come to realize that she's simply incompetent at her job (don't ask me how she even got it; I have no idea).

So I now have the search for a new MP3 storage host narrowed down to three "likelies," the choice depending on whether they'll work with my long-established format. Also, on whether their owners understand what the Fair Use Clause is and what it's for (to protect innocent record collectors and music historians like me from music piracy charges under the grossly corrupt Sonny Bono Copyright Extension Law), and honor it.

Stay tuned to this space for further announcements as we get toward the end of the month; like General Douglas MacArthur, "I shall return!" After all, I still have plenty of great old music that I've never posted before.
